Terms of Use

What you may do with the content on this site, what you may not, and how to file a copyright complaint. This page sits alongside the Terms and Conditions and covers content and access specifically.

Acceptable use

You are welcome to read wattridge.com, print pages for your own use, save them for reference, and share links to them anywhere you like. Quoting a short passage with clear attribution and a working link back to the original page is fine and always has been. That is what the site is for.

These Terms of Use work together with our Terms and Conditions. Where the two overlap, both apply.

Prohibited uses

Without prior written permission from Watt Ridge, you may not:

  • Reproduce or republish content. Copying articles, guides, comparison tables, charts, ratings, or substantial portions of them onto another website, app, newsletter, PDF, video description, or printed publication.
  • Use content commercially. Selling, licensing, or including our content in any paid product, course, report, or service.
  • Scrape or access by automated means. Crawlers, bots, scrapers, harvesters, or scripts that copy content at scale, place unreasonable load on the server, or bypass rate limiting or access controls.
  • Use content for machine learning or dataset building. Collecting, storing, or ingesting content from this site to train, fine tune, or evaluate any machine learning model or to build a commercial dataset.
  • Rewrite content to disguise its origin. Spinning, paraphrasing at scale, translating, or machine rewriting our guides to publish them as original work elsewhere.
  • Frame, mirror, or hotlink. Displaying our pages inside another site’s frame, mirroring the site, or embedding our image and asset files directly from our server.
  • Remove or alter notices. Stripping copyright notices, attribution, affiliate disclosures, or safety notices from any copy you are otherwise permitted to make.
  • Interfere with the site. Attempting to gain unauthorised access, introducing malicious code, probing for vulnerabilities, or disrupting availability for other visitors.
  • Misrepresent a relationship. Suggesting that Watt Ridge endorses, is affiliated with, or has verified your product, service, or content when it has not.

  • Content ownership

All original text, structure, data presentation, charts, comparison layouts, scoring systems, graphics, and design elements on this site are owned by Watt Ridge and protected by copyright and related rights. The compilation and arrangement of specifications, even where individual figures come from public manufacturer documentation, is itself protected as an original selection and arrangement.

Third party trademarks, brand names, model designations, and logos referenced on this site remain the property of their respective owners and appear here for identification and descriptive purposes only.

    Permission requests

Requests for republication, syndication, translation, or classroom and training use are welcome and are often granted. Email hello@wattridge.com with what you want to use, where it would appear, for how long, and whether it is commercial. Please ask before publishing rather than afterwards.

    Copyright complaints and DMCA notices

Watt Ridge respects the intellectual property of others. If you believe material on this site infringes your copyright, send a written notice to legal@wattridge.com. Under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, your notice should include the following.

    • A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorised to act on their behalf.
    • Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
    • Identification of the material on this site that you claim is infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it. A direct URL is best.
    • Your contact details, including address, telephone number, and email address.
    • A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
    • A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf.
    • Valid notices are acted on promptly, and material that is found to be infringing is removed or disabled. Repeat infringers, including commenters, are blocked.

      Counter notice

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter notice to legal@wattridge.com. It should identify the removed material and its former location, include your contact details, include a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith the removal was a mistake, and include your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court in the district where you live, or where our service provider is located if you are outside the United States.

      Enforcement and changes

We may block access, restrict requests, or take further action against any person or system that breaches these terms, without notice and without waiving any other remedy. These Terms of Use may be updated at any time, and the last updated date at the top of this page changes when they are. Continuing to use the site means you accept the current version.
